CFTP 2015: "more than a developmental project"

CFTP 2015- more than a developmental project

....the Commercial Farming Training Project, 2015 has proved to be more than the conventional agricultural development projects.

using a baseline of crops with comparative advantage per State, needs analysis per community and presence of available farming technologies per geo-political region, the Project has survived and succeeded the 1st quarter of the Nigerian Economy Stagnation, 2016.

if the Market Gardening and Irrigation technology provided by the National Directorate of Employment has trained 25 persons on Commercial Vegetable Farming for the markets, then we all agree that the demand is up-most for vegetable in the dry, hot season around the Country.

also, if the demand for farm Broilers is to meet the demand of the 1st quarter of 2016, this would be a miracle, hence the choice for Commercial Broiler Production was not in vain.

this technique demonstrated by the Officers of the Rural Employment Promotion Dept, of the NDE demands full recognition and applause, as we carry out policies based on research and feedback mechanisms.

the beneficiaries at the end were fully resettled and hence began their projects ahead of the loan repayment periods, this is to enable them save enough for uncertainties in the future and meet certain market demands related to festivals.

 thanks.

........i was assigned to Taraba and Adamawa States and it was a very successful check, as all NDE, REP Projects are working in line with proper directives and results show impact on the immediate communities and the environments, towards having a huge population of productive youths in the country.

1st Dailytrust Agric Conference - Mr Rotimi Williams Submission

Mr Rotimi Williams Submission

Discussed policy formulation. He also criticized the rice data given by the FMARD, as data he acquired from the Nigerian Rice Growers Association was totally different. He highlighted that rice data is determined based on two (2) references i.e. Paddy rice Production and Milling Capacity, indicating that, FMARD’s data on rice for the year 2014 shows Paddy rice Production rising from 3.7 metric tons to 10.8 metric tons (about 60% recovery), while Milling capacity 70,000kg – 800,000kg daily.
He also explained the six (6) processes involved in Rice Production i.e. seed producer-farming-millers-packaging-storing-distribution. More concentration should be on production i.e. farming.
He recommended that rice importation should not be banned for now, but rather the levy issued on imported rice should be used to develop the rice industry.

Report - 1st Dailytrust Agric Conference, held at NAF Conference Hall, Abuja.
